THERMACOUPLE®
SYSTEM OPERATION
The Thermacouple® Earth Energy System is a
high-performance
concentric-tube type ground
heat exchanger for use in constructing closed ground loops
for any size geothermal system. Each Thermacouple® System
installs
in
a
300
foot
deep
six-inch
diameter
borehole,
and
supports
heat
transfer
rates
of
up
to
5
Tons
(60,000
BTU/Hr)
with
deep
Earth environments rich in aquifers, and having average temperatures
below 65 degrees F.
It does so by employing laminar fluid flow in its inner flow
channel to reduce thermal cross-talk with its outer flow channel, and
turbulent fluid flow in its outer flow channel to maximize heat
transfer rates through its carbon-fiberglass outer tube, to its
thermally-conductive grout.
